Dr. Christine Marie Cocchiola

Founder, Coercive Control Consulting Institute

Dr. Christine Marie Cocchiola is a Coercive Control Educator, Speaker, Clinician, Coach, and Survivor, dedicated to raising awareness about the hidden dynamics of abuse and supporting those impacted by coercive control. A tenured college professor with over 20 years of experience teaching social work, Dr. C has been a lifelong advocate for social justice—beginning her work in domestic abuse and sexual assault prevention at just 19.

As both a professional and protective parent, Dr. C combines clinical expertise, research, and lived experience to illuminate the insidious impact of coercive control on children and families. Through her private practice, courses, and professional trainings, she educates protective parents, clinicians, coaches, and court professionals on how to recognize and respond to this pervasive form of abuse.

Beyond her clinical and educational work, Dr. C is an active legislative advocate, championing policies that protect adult and child victims of coercive control. She frequently testifies in support of legislation that promotes accountability and institutional understanding of coercive control—the underpinning of all abuse.

Through her work, Dr. C empowers survivors and professionals alike to create safer, more informed systems of support.
