Kate Fishman
Kate Fishman is a senior physical therapist at New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she provides comprehensive, compassionate, inclusive, and individualized care through an integrative body/mind/spirit approach. She infuses her evidence-based biopsychosocial training with the wisdom of ancient yogic traditions.
Kate is passionate about empowering her clients to take an active role in their care, working together as a team, and equipping them with tools to continue self care beyond their treatment sessions.
With her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, Kate holds advanced board certifications in orthopedics (OCS), pelvic health (PRPC), and mechanical diagnosis and treatment (MDT). As a senior therapist, she mentors emerging professionals and serves as a teaching assistant for the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.
Kate actively advances the field through research, serving as a consultant for HSS studies on osteoarthritis and lupus. As primary investigator in an RCT on yoga's effects on anxiety and mood, she has multiple publications to her credit. She has also served as a medical consultant for a front-page Women's Health Advisor article on building lean muscle mass. Her commitment to knowledge sharing extends through lectures across the Cornell system and community presentations from NYC to rural New Hampshire and Washington.
A certified yoga instructor, Kate teaches community yoga classes, as well as anatomy lectures for yoga teacher training programs. Honoring her roots in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Kate has been honored to offer donation-based yoga classes with proceeds supporting people in her birthplace during these challenging times.
Kate has also co-founded a transformative women’s retreat in New Hampshire, dedicated to providing a safe space for women to re-connect with nature, themselves, and each other. This sanctuary offers workshops on native plants, writing seminars, outdoor yoga, SUP yoga, fireside drumming, guided hikes, nature-inspired art classes, and beyond. Her co-founder, Sue Coleman, is a New Hampshire native, herbalist, and resident artist.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys challenging herself on land and in water - wing foiling, SUPing, hiking, biking, and snowboarding - adventures she loves sharing with her family and friends.
